At around 4:30 a.m., seven buses and three small vehicles collided with each other near milestone 127 while traveling from Agra towards Noida. According to reports, dense fog caused low visibility, which led to the accident. So far, 13 people have been reported dead, while around 33 others are said to be injured. The injured passengers have been admitted to a nearby hospital for treatment.
According to official sources, the Yamuna Expressway Road Accident took place around 4:30 a.m. near milestone 127 on the Yamuna Expressway, when vehicles were moving from Agra towards Noida. Due to extremely poor visibility caused by thick fog, seven buses and three small vehicles rammed into each other in a chain collision.
Eyewitnesses reported chaos at the scene as the vehicles piled up within seconds, leaving passengers trapped inside damaged buses and cars. Many people were asleep at the time of the collision, which worsened the impact and increased the number of casualties.
Death Toll and Injuries
As per the latest reports, 13 people lost their lives in the tragic accident. Emergency responders rushed to the site immediately after receiving information, and rescue operations continued for several hours.
Around 33 passengers sustained injuries, some of them critically. The injured were swiftly shifted to nearby hospitals in Mathura and surrounding areas, where doctors are providing medical treatment. Authorities have stated that the condition of a few injured passengers remains serious.
Dense fog and low visibility were the prime reasons behind the accident. Visibility on the expressway was reportedly reduced to just a few meters, making it difficult for drivers to judge distances and react in time.
Police, highway patrol teams, and emergency medical services reached the accident spot soon after the incident. Cranes were used to remove damaged vehicles and clear the road, while ambulances transported the injured to hospitals.
Traffic on the Yamuna Expressway was temporarily disrupted, causing long queues of vehicles. Authorities later diverted traffic and gradually restored movement after clearing the wreckage.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has taken notice of the incident and has dispatched rescue officials to the scene. He has also announced an ex gratia of ₹2 lakh each to the families of those who lost their lives, and directed the best possible treatment to the injured.
A dozen fire tenders have reached the spot along with 14 ambulances to transfer the injured to the nearest Community Health Centre in Baldev.
Earlier, on Monday, a massive pile-up occurred at the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway in Nuh, where 18 vehicles were involved. The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) officials said the chain reaction began when a passenger bus rammed into a dumper truck amid near-zero visibility.
